We do want to be helpful, but please:

Don't ask us to credential junk you got from diploma mills.
Don't ask us to designate a major not warranted by your portfolio.
Don't ask us to back-date diplomas prior to completion of your credentialing.
[But it is proper on employment application forms etc to give a studies start- or completion date as the date when you commenced or completed studies which we subsequently aggregated for credit and credential]

Publishers: don't expect us to covertly pay to be listed in your directory of programs or universities. People know upfront there is a charge to be listed in the yellow pages. They don't know it may cost to be listed in various guides which are otherwise portrayed to the public as objective and authoritative!
