Membership

Vancouver University Worldwide has a global "open learning" mission. Ultimately we seek two or more member colleges in each country - including one or two in each major province (or 'state') of the larger federated countries. Some such member colleges would likely be in competion for students. They would compete for students, and their students can then compete on the sports fields!

To make an analogy: the Cambridge CELTA option (http://www.cambridge-efl.org) presently has two competing locations in Vancouver BC (five altogether in Canada). There are three CELTA locations in South Africa (one of them there, Shane, is also a VanU member college). They all jointly affirm the CELTA process, while directly competing for students in CELTA context. But note that Vancouver University Worldwide differs from degree-franchise or branch-plant university models. Our member colleges are full equals (even the candidate member colleges are invited to nominate a Board member).

To reiterate then: some of our member colleges in Vancouver BC and elsewhere directly compete for students in particular programs. They then need to share a common concern for standards and collective reputation. The colleges at London compete for students, as well as collaborate in London's Senate (Board). So likewise do the colleges at Cambridge and Oxford. Such relationship of competition/collaboration is healthy and productive.
