NOTE: This is a historic draft document which was to have been sent to alumni and current students etc - if needed in a worst-case scenario response to the Degree Authorization Act, as introduced in the British Columbia (BC) Legislature 11th April 2002. On 2nd May 2002 a 68-page document on the context and structure of our (32-years in BC) degree programs was sent to the BC Minister of Advanced Education.

Vancouver University Worldwide, a credible, service-providing, Commonwealth and wider distributed university - incorporating member colleges in various countries - cannot be destroyed by public sector parochial predatory attitude and misperceptions in one province. The public postsecondary regime in BC has resented the fact that Vancouver University originated "applied" and related-concepts aggregate-learning degrees in BC (and Canada generally), which the public sector is now copying, and it has often sought to oust private non-profit Vancouver University in the context. (The BC Ministry has also been wrong in stating that past degree authority in BC had to derive from a singular statute - Vancouver University's degree authority has been based in a combination of relevant statutes, its lawful name presumption, its statutory constitution, and Common Law precedents).

You may wish to make comment to Minister Bond.

When Leader of the Opposition, Gordon Campbell wrote on a number of occasions supporting Vancouver University's upward struggle - and nominated representatives to attend our Convocations. It would be disturbing indeed if our representations to Premier Campbell and relevant Cabinet ministers now did not reach them or are casually dismissed. In addition to the above-mentioned documentary submission and other measures, we would also consider various further options, such as moving a major portion of our present consortium-wide administrative functions to a more perceptive and receptive jurisdiction and identity, if so needed.
